Frequently Asked Questions
What is the recovery time for spine surgery?
Recovery time varies but typically ranges from 3 weeks to 3 months, depending on the type of surgery. Minimally invasive procedures often allow patients to return to normal activities much sooner.
Is robotic spine surgery safe?
Robotic and navigation-guided spine surgery use real-time imaging to help the surgeon plan and place screws and implants precisely. Like any operation, they carry risks, which Dr. Goyal discusses with you before recommending them. He offers both techniques where they suit your condition.
Do all disc herniations require surgery?
No. In published data, slip-disc symptoms resolve within 6–12 weeks in 60–80% of patients and in 80–90% over the long term with medication, physiotherapy and lifestyle changes (Kögl et al., Deutsches Ärzteblatt International, 2024). Surgery is usually a last resort when conservative treatments fail or if there is severe nerve compression.
When should I see a spine specialist?
You should consult a specialist if you have back pain lasting more than 2 weeks, pain radiating to arms/legs, numbness, weakness, or if the pain interferes with your daily sleep and activities.
